A review of the January transfer window

Incomings and outgoings are part and parcel of football. In a season to remember this could have been the most important window in the club’s recent history.

The club has worked hard to ensure a good fight for a place in the top flight’s top half at the end of the season.

On the first day of the window, a deal was secured for Richard Taylor to play in black and white until the end of the season. He has yet to make an impact in the first team so far.

The usual chaos ensued in the last week of the window for the Buddies, Eamon Brophy was sent out to a struggling Ross County side until the end of the season. Here’s hoping he can find his shooting boots up in Dingwall after a poor season so far. The saints have replaced him with Tony Watt, a loan signing that will excite fans and give Curtis Main competition for the No.9 shirt in Paisley.

Thierry Small has joined on loan from English premier league side Southampton. He will offer competition for Scott Tanser in the left-back position, one that many fans believe has been the weak point in the side in recent months.

There was a tough one to take for the fans as an Academy graduate Ethan Erahon moved to Lincon City on a permanent move, one of the best players so far this season for the Buddies but his contract situation made it hard for the club to hold onto such a bright talent in the Scottish game. Losing Ethan will be a big loss in the push for the top six.

Important contract extensions were also completed in January for Marcus Fraser, Greg Kiltie, and Peter Urminsky.
